About Us

Our History

It all started in late 2004 when Dr. Karem Kolkailah, President of the Egyptian Ophthalmological Society (EOS) at the time, contemplated the possibility of establishing a new eye care hospital of the highest international standards. With his considerable network of connections, Dr. Kolkailah sounded out six of the country’s leading professors in the field of ophthalmology to join in and help attain his vision. The concept was unanimously accepted and embraced. After spending significant efforts and investing in state-of-the-art facilities, the vision of our esteemed group of doctors finally came to fruition.

The Egyptian Eye Academy was founded in May 2005 in Cairo as an S.A.E. with the aim of utilizing its staff’s collective expertise and outlaid investments to be the leading eye care hospital in Egypt and later on, in the Middle East and North African region. The reason behind the name is that we are more than just an eye care hospital. We are an educational institute that is committed to becoming a distinguished source for all the latest advances in the ophthalmology field. There is a real intent on the founders’ behalves to pass their accumulated experiences and knowledge onto the newer generations.

Given the impressive portfolio of services and the group of doctors on board, it was no surprise that the Egyptian Eye Academy did not take long to build a respectable name for itself in the industry. Building on the success that we have achieved in Cairo, the Egyptian Eye Academy expanded into Suez and we opened our second hospital in November 2012. Further, a new branch in Mohandeseen is set to be opened soon. Driven by our massive ambition, plans are already underway to establish a new state-of-the-art medical facility in Heliopolis that would utilize cutting-edge technology enabling us to offer an unprecedented experience for our patients.
